2008 Physician of the Year

"One in a million" doctor named 2008 Physician of the Year

July 24, 2008 (Castro Valley, CA)– Eden Medical Center is proud to name Dr. Jeffrey Randall the first ever recipient of the Physician of the Year award for 2008. The medical center invited former patients, employees and volunteers to nominate their physician for the award. Dr. Randall edged out 63 other doctors for the title. The award was presented to Dr. Randall at Eden Medical Center Foundation’s annual spring gala at Casa Real.

One of his patients remarked, “I am very blessed to have you for my doctor. Thank you for all your outstanding and wonderful care. You are definitely a very special doctor.” Another nomination deemed Dr. Randall a “one in a million” doctor.

Dr. Randall was also recently appointed to Eden Medical Center Board of Directors, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Dr. Francis Johnson earlier this year. Dr. Randall’s selection was recommended by the Eden Board of Directors and confirmed by Sutter Health earlier this month. His appointment is effective immediately. He is one of five physician members of Eden’s eleven member Board of Directors.

Dr. Randall has been a member of the Eden Medical Staff since 1990. He is a long time supporter of Eden and due in part to his personal advocacy; Eden Medical Center was selected to be the home of the Sutter East Bay Neuroscience Center. Dr. Randall also serves as the program’s Medical Director.

A fourth generation native of the Bay Area, he grew up in San Leandro, where his first exposure to medicine took place when he worked as a nursing assistant at San Leandro Hospital. He subsequently attended Stanford University, graduating with a B.S. in Biological Sciences in 1980. He pursued his medical training at the University of Michigan, receiving his M.D. degree in 1984, and completing his internship and residency in Neurosurgery in 1990.
